Purpose Through Pain
THIS IS MY STORY
I believe there are moments in our lives that come to define us, and I can pinpoint mine with crystal clarity: a single phone call that shattered my world. It was the moment I learned my younger brother, Preston, would face the fight of his life.
Medical professionals called it the "beast," but in reality, it was an inoperable Grade 5 brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM). Alongside this, he was also diagnosed with two brain aneurysms and a cyst so large that it pushed his brain off-center, resulting in a loss of mobility.
Five months of surgeries, angiograms, embolizations, a PICC line, and an act of God followed. Ultimately, the once Grade 5 AVM shrank to a Grade 4, giving Preston a chance at life.
Through his journey—and the battle he still fights today—I’ve developed a passion for educating, advocating, and fundraising for vascular anomalies. Anomalies such as AVMs and aneurysms, all in hopes that no other family may endure what mine has.

Governor Reeves signs proclamation declaring October AVM Awareness Month in Mississippi

Governor Reeves Declares October AVM Awareness Month in MS
What began as a deep desire to raise awareness and share Preston's story after his diagnosis has taken me across Mississippi—from classrooms to blood drives, reaching wide virtual audiences, and now to the Capitol. It was a great privilege to meet Governor Reeves and witness a state proclamation signed for something so close to my heart: for Preston, for the AVM community, and for my fellow Mississippians.
